Let’s Talk about the Process of Deleting a Message in Outlook Express

Let’s talk about the way of deleting those Outlook Express mail messages, which are no longer of any use to you. It is very important for you to remember that if you don’t delete unnecessary mails regularly and if you allow your OE Inbox to continue to grow, then you will eventually land up in problems that are caused due to exceeded storage space; after which, you might become unable to access your emails. So, the following steps will guide you how to delete unnecessary emails in Outlook Express email application

  1. Close the window is any message that is open so that you can view the list of emails from your Inbox folder
  2. Select the test message required to be deleted
  3. Now, click Delete
  4. A strikethrough line will show up over the message header. This line indicates that the deleted message is marked for deletion but is not yet deleted on a permanent basis
  5. In order to permanently delete the message from your Inbox, what you need to do is to select Purge Deleted Messages from the Edit menu. On purging the mail messages, you will not be prompted to confirm your intention, so you have to be careful! In case you don't purge a deleted message manually, then it will automatically be purged when you quit the application
Useful Tip: You can undelete a message before you purge it, but you cannot undelete it after you purge it. To undelete, you can right-click on the message and then select Undelete OR you can click the message and select Undelete from the Edit menu.
